Job summary

Diffraqtion is hiring a Computer Vision Engineer to own the imaging pipeline from raw sensor output to actionable detections, including physics-based reconstruction and de-noising. You will deploy on embedded hardware and work closely with optical engineers to optimize optics and algorithms for space readiness.

You will fuse multi-sensor data, design end-to-end models, and test them on hardware in a collaboration-heavy environment in Somerville, MA.

Qualifications

• M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 3+ years of industry experience developing and deploying computer vision or perception systems on real sensors.
• Hands-on experience with multi-sensor measurement fusion using probabilistic and learned methods.
• Hands-on experience with computational imaging: de-noising, restoration, or reconstruction.
• Strong grounding in estimation theory and inverse problems with deep learning for imaging.
• Experience designing experiments with ablations, baselines, and uncertainty quantification.
• Strong proficiency in Python and PyTorch, with working knowledge of C++.
• Solid understanding of image formation, camera models, calibration, and sensor noise.
• This is an on-site role in Somerville, MA, with the hardware team.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy computer vision models for imaging and perception tasks.
• Develop de-noising and image-restoration methods robust to sensor noise and radiation effects.
• Create end-to-end imaging chain models combining physics-based optics and neural networks.
• Design sensor fusion algorithms using probabilistic and learned approaches.
• Integrate vision outputs into the real-time control loop with engineering teams.
• Optimize and deploy models to edge hardware (embedded GPU, FPGA, SoC) with pruning and quantization.
• Build data pipelines and simulation tools for synthetic and lab datasets.
• Define metrics and run hardware-in-the-loop experiments on real sensor data.
• Document designs and contribute to codebase and best practices.
