Job summary

Amazon in Westboro, MA is seeking a Computer Vision SDE II to design and build software for edge devices inside fulfillment workstations. You will process real‑time images, connect to camera systems, and ensure reliability across hundreds of sites with varying lighting and hardware.

The role emphasizes end‑to‑end development from sensing to deployment and includes building testing and tooling for scalable, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, prototype, and deploy computer vision capabilities that reduce hardware costs and improve item identification accuracy.
• Design and build edge inference and deployment infrastructure for fleet-wide production across fulfillment workcells.
• Develop and extend the edge software stack, integrating sensors into production systems with high reliability and accuracy targets.
• Build qualification, calibration, and validation tooling for new camera hardware onboarding and deployment.
• Own data collection and monitoring pipelines for production telemetry, model retraining, and defect reduction.
• Create self-service tooling and workflows to onboard new workcell deployments without dedicated engineering support.
• Design fleet-wide observability systems: health monitoring, anomaly detection, performance alerting, and proactive diagnostics.
• Define hardware abstraction interfaces for new sensor systems so all product teams can use newly qualified hardware without code changes.
• Drive operational excellence: automated test and release pipelines, incident response, runbook development, and uptime improvements.
