Job summary

Battelle seeks a Senior Computer Engineer in Chantilly, VA to lead embedded software development, ML and data engineering for critical client missions. You will work in a fast-paced, agile environment delivering high-quality technical solutions both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires deep expertise in C/C++, RTOS, and modern languages like Go or Rust, plus a U.S. citizen with TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. Hybrid/onsite arrangements apply as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 15+ years of experience; Master’s with 10+ years; PhD with 8+ years or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of embedded software development in C/C++
• Experience in national security, defense, and/or intelligence community programs
• Experience or interest in coding in Go or Rust
• Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning and data engineering solutions for advanced client missions across science and technology domains
• Develop embedded software for real-time operating systems and embedded systems using C/C++ and newer languages like Go or Rust
• Analyze compiled OS and apply reverse engineering principles
• Collect and analyze technical information from multiple sources to drive client missions and quick-turn tasks
• Proactively develop and execute creative solutions to complex technical problems
• Support administrative tasks including thorough, complete work products
• Communicate progress and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and lead tasks on time and within budget
