Job summary

NYU is seeking a senior researcher to provide high-level support and in-depth consultation for scholars using its research computing infrastructure. You will solve computational problems, design algorithms, and develop applications while advising researchers on configurations to boost performance.

You will also develop training materials, deliver sessions, and produce online docs to help faculty use HPC and AI tools in research and teaching.

Qualifications

Master's Degree or equivalent in CS with strong scientific computing emphasis.
5+ years of HPC programming, job scheduling, compilers, performance libraries.
Experience programming in C++, Fortran, Python, Java, and Matlab.
Experience with HPC infrastructure workflows, resource managers, monitoring, and data transfer tools.
Big Data experience and knowledge of big data infrastructure.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written skills, including documentation and customer support.
Linux OS expertise and Bash scripting.
Knowledge of CPU/GPU offerings and HPC/AI in public clouds like GCP.
Docker and Singularity container experience in HPC environments.
Ability to present technical concepts clearly through demos, proposals, and presentations.
Experience providing computational support for academic research.
Experience programming API access.
Doctoral Degree preferred; 7+ years experience preferred.

Requirements

Master's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field, with strong scientific computing emphasis
5+ years of experience working with HPC programming, job scheduling, compilers, performance libraries, and related technologies
Experience programming in high-level languages such as C++, Fortran, Python, Java, and Matlab
Experience with HPC infrastructure workflows, resource managers, usage and systems health monitoring, and data transfer and sharing tools
Working experience with Big Data and knowledge of big data infrastructure
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, including documentation and customer support
Excellent programming and math skills
Proven expertise with Linux OS and bash scripting
Knowledge of CPU and GPU offerings and HPC and AI offerings in public cloud providers such as GCP
Experience designing, building, and deploying containers such as Docker and Singularity in an HPC environment
Ability to present technical concepts clearly through demos, proposals, and presentations
Experience providing computational support for academic research
Experience programming API access
Doctoral Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
7+ years of work experience preferred
Experience in programming, architecting, deploying, and using HPC applications preferred
Experience in an academic research environment preferred
Quantitative background in probability and statistics preferred
Experience with GPU programming in an HPC environment preferred
Experience managing structured and unstructured data preferred
Experience with parallel programming models such as OpenMP, MPI, and CUDA preferred
Experience parallelizing serial computational applications and data analytics preferred

Demonstrates expertise in HPC programming, algorithm design, and application development, with a strong emphasis on computational support for academic research. Proficient in high-level programming languages and familiar with big data infrastructure and cloud computing technologies.
