Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a Senior Computational Scientist to build and operate software for the Initiative for Generative Immunotherapy. You will automate data handling, create an internal data-tracking system, and develop a public data portal to enable researchers to search, filter, and download datasets.

You will work with bioinformaticians and clinicians, ensure data sharing complies with consent and funder rules, and contribute to grant proposals and papers

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience or equivalent.
• Experience building web applications with a modern front-end framework (React/Vue/Svelte with TypeScript).
• Experience automating data handling for large scientific/clinical datasets.
• Familiarity with high-throughput sequencing data formats and standards.

Responsibilities

• Build and run software for data tracking and sharing within the initiative.
• Develop internal data tracking system linking biospecimens to annotations and results.
• Create a public portal for dataset search, filtering, and download.
• Collaborate with bioinformaticians, laboratory staff, and physicians to define requirements.
