Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital seeks a Principal Computational Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic vision for advanced computing environments and software ecosystems used by researchers to advance the mission.

This role sits in High Performance Research Computing (HPRC) and partners with researchers, data scientists and engineers to define and execute computing strategy. The successful candidate will design, evaluate, and deploy scalable HPC, cloud, data-intensive

Qualifications

Master's degree in computer science, data science, information science, mathematics, or related field.
PhD preferred.
8+ years of progressive experience developing, optimizing, or maintaining scientific or computational applications.
Demonstrated history of delivering complex projects and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Proven ability to lead projects and guide team members.

Responsibilities

Provide long-term, scalable technical vision and strategy for IS efforts to support basic science and translational research.
Oversee definition and execution of IS technology strategy aligned with research needs.
Lead feasibility studies, time/cost estimates, and deployment of computational applications.
Oversee security and performance monitoring of computational software.
Provide project management guidance to teams for timely delivery within budget.
Mentor engineering staff and promote cross-training across areas of expertise.
