Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a Senior Computational Engineer to design, implement, and support advanced computing solutions for research in support of the St.

Jude mission. This role is a key technical contributor within High Performance Research Computing (HPRC), working with researchers to design efficient processes, infrastructure, software, and workflows for data acquisition and processing.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, data science, information science, mathematics or a related field required.
• PhD in computer science, data science, information science, mathematics or a related field preferred.
• 4+ years of experience developing, optimizing, or maintaining scientific or computational applications.
• Experience designing and developing computational pipelines, workflows, or software for HPC/AI/ML workloads is highly preferred.
• Strong scripting and parallel programming skills to address complex requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to understand needs for HPCF systems and sustainable operation.
• Develop, deploy, optimize, and maintain scientific apps, pipelines, and libraries on HPCF systems.
• Support porting, parallelizing, debugging, and enhancing application codes for HPCF workloads.
• Create documentation and training materials for applications and pipelines on HPCF systems.
• Evaluate new computing technologies including data processing and visualization systems.
• Develop HPCF utilization metrics and report system usage and performance.
• Assist in increasing HPCF utilization and cross-team collaboration.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet department goals.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
