Merge Labs in San Francisco is seeking a Senior/Principal Computational Biologist to lead large-scale omics pipelines, integrate multi-modal data, and collaborate with ML teams to extract mechanistic and predictive insights.

You will architect data processing frameworks that convert raw omics data into clean, analysis-ready datasets and build ML-integrated pipelines to extract deeper meaning, accelerating molecular engineering campaigns.

Qualifications

• Omics data analysis (bulk and single-cell) and bioinformatics pipelines.
• Expertise in Python and/or R; fluency with workflow tools Nextflow / Dagster.
• Proficiency in Python / PyTorch / Jax and production-grade code.
• Experience bridging computational biology and experimental science—handling noisy/high-cost data.
• Collaborative, systems-level mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build pipelines for genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to define objectives and priors.
• Prototype modeling frameworks and benchmark performance.
• Explain analyses to non-domain experts for democratization of first-principles analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with research and prototype algorithms for deployment to improve workflows.
• Contribute to the long-term research roadmap as a thought-leader.
