Job summary

Shield AI is redefining autonomous aviation with cutting-edge AI and GPS/RF-denied navigation, now building XBAT. The Component Engineer will own component data governance, lifecycle management, and supplier engagement to meet performance, cost, and availability targets.

Responsibilities include reviewing component requests, defining quality baselines for COTS, monitoring NRND/EOL, and driving ECO actions with engineering. Requires strong PLM/ECAD proficiency and 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• B.S. in an engineering field and relevant experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering or components.
• Understanding of PLM (Arena, Teamcenter) and ECAD tools (Altium).
• Ability to balance performance, cost and supply chain risk.
• Ownership, high standards and effective collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own component data and governance in PLM (part creation, attributes, AML/AVL, lifecycle states).
• Review and approve new component requests.
• Define baseline quality requirements for COTS components and enforce them through design BOM reviews.
• Monitor and assess PCNs and lifecycle changes (NRND/EOL), drive ECOs.
• Partner with Electrical Engineering to select components meeting performance, cost, and availability targets.
• Build and maintain preferred parts lists and AVL; support alternate part evaluations and second sourcing.
