Job description

The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Compliance Specialist to support and lead the organization’s compliance efforts across regulatory, policy, and internal control requirements. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, contractual obligations, and company policies while promoting a strong culture of ethics and accountability. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented compliance professional with strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with Legal, HR, Finance, and Operations.

Overview

The Senior Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining and strengthening the company’s compliance framework. This position supports compliance program administration, risk assessments, audits, investigations, and regulatory reporting. The role evaluates compliance processes, monitors regulatory changes, prepares documentation, and supports continuous improvement of internal controls. In addition to technical responsibilities, this position contributes to training initiatives and serves as a trusted compliance resource across the organization.

A Day in the Life
  • Support and administer company-wide compliance programs, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor federal, state, and local regulations applicable to the organization
  • Identify, assess, and document compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Prepare compliance reports, records, and documentation to support audits and reviews
  • Coordinate and respond to internal and external audit or regulatory inquiries
  • Track and monitor corrective action plans to ensure timely resolution of findings
  • Maintain organized and accurate compliance records and audit trails
  • Partner with Legal, HR, Finance, and Operations to address compliance questions and issues
  • Assist with compliance training initiatives and employee awareness programs
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls
  • Provide guidance or review compliance-related work prepared by peers or junior staff as assigned
  • Support other compliance and risk management initiatives as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field
  • 5 or more years of progressive compliance, audit, risk, or regulatory experience
  • Strong understanding of compliance principles, internal controls, and risk management
  • Experience supporting audits, investigations, or regulatory inquiries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and documentation/reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential information
