Heron Power Inc. is seeking a Compliance Engineer to own the full product safety and regulatory lifecycle for grid‑connected power electronics. You will lead compliance strategy from standards development through certification, market entry, and sustaining improvements.

You will collaborate with design engineering to demonstrate conformance, drive risk management, and influence evolving requirements. This role emphasizes first principles engineering and cross‑functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• 4+ years in regulatory/compliance certification for power electronics.
• Deep understanding of UL/IEC/IEEE/ISO standards.
• Experience with manufacturing processes for high‑power assemblies.
• Experience DFMEA/PFMEA/HARA for complex hardware.
• Participation in product‑relevant standards committees.
• Development of cybersecurity program for utility equipment.
• Functional safety integration into software/firmware.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply compliance from UL, IEC, IEEE, NEC, ISO to guide market entry.
• Partner with engineering, product and manufacturing to embed compliance into design.
• Develop and execute compliance test plans and build test infrastructure.
• Establish and manage partnerships with NRTLs for certification.
• Monitor evolving standards and engage with AHJs and utilities.
• Represent the company in industry codes and standards activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish scalable compliance processes.
• Forecast compliance capital and operating expenses.
