Job summary

Utica National Insurance Group in Central New York seeks a Workers' Compensation Senior Complex handler to manage complex and serious multi-jurisdictional claims, primarily in Southern jurisdictions.

You will conduct advanced investigations, negotiate settlements within authority, and represent the Company in hearings and mediations, with minimal supervision. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and 7–10 years of workers' comp claims experience are preferred; licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years' experience handling workers' compensation claims preferred.
• Licensing as an adjuster required in the states you are assigned, within company timelines.

Responsibilities

• Handles multi-jurisdictional Workers’ Compensation claims of a complex and serious nature.
• Negotiates and settles claims within assigned authority with a focus on resolution.
• Represents Company interests in hearings, mediations and settlement conferences.
• Maintains direct contact with Plaintiff and Defense attorneys on serious claim matters.
• Reviews court decisions, law and coverage interpretations related to Workers’ Compensation.
• Submits periodic reports and complies with Claims Management statistics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Conforms with all corporate policies and procedures.
