What You'll DoJoin Principal's Actuarial & Product Management team as a Senior Competitive Intelligence Analyst and partner with key decision-makers by providing timely, actionable, strategic business intelligence relating to product competitiveness using approved methodology that provide insight and implications for illustration, marketing and product strategy!
Major responsibilities include:
- Collect, analyze and disseminate current and strategic information about key life and disability product competitors.
- Assess market competitiveness, educate internal partners on where we compete and be available for case level support. Communicate with various audiences on how to position Principal's products against peers and provide information on new designs marketed by competitors.
- Collaborate with appropriate resources (e.g. industry organization, product development, external vendors) to develop industry growth/opportunity projections, product penetration and determine/communicate product market attractiveness.
- Maintain / increase knowledge of tools and techniques for gathering and disseminating competitive intelligence information.
- Participate on cross-business unit market intelligence groups, consisting of both primary and secondary research professionals. Participate in product surveys, assist with product reviews and compare competitor product pricing, benefits and features,
- Assist with the management, development and enhancement of technology used in the marketing and illustration of our products.
Who You Are- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of related experience in the financial services industry resulting in knowledge of company products, competitive and business intelligence practices, tools, analytic techniques and methodologies
- Excellent project management, organizational, problem-solving, leadership and analytical skills
- Capable of installing, running, and maintaining sales illustration software
- Microsoft desktop tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) proficiency
- NASD Series 6 or other industry designation a plus
- Familiarity with case design is a plus
- Minimum travel required

Salary Range InformationSalary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)$81900 - $125000 / year
Time Off ProgramFlexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
