Job summary

Patreon seeks a Senior Compensation leader in San Francisco, embracing a hybrid model with three days in-office weekly. You will shape compensation strategy, benchmark the market, and manage equity programs to attract and retain top talent.

You will partner with Finance, Legal, and Talent Acquisition to design total rewards, run planning cycles, and ensure governance and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

This role is based in San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 3 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compensation Strategy Development: Lead the development and execution of Patreon's compensation strategy, aligning it with the company’s objectives and market trends. Regularly assess and adjust compensation structures to attract, motivate, and retain high-performing employees.
  • Market Research and Benchmarking: Manage the benchmarking review process by conducting thorough market analysis to understand industry compensation trends, both domestically and internationally. Utilize benchmarking data to ensure Patreon's compensation remains competitive and compelling.
  • Total Rewards Enhancement: Collaborate with HR, leadership, and benefits team to design and enhance Patreon's total rewards framework, including base salary, variable pay, equity programs, and benefits, to ensure a comprehensive and appealing package for employees.
  • Equity Program Management: Oversee Patreon's equity program design, including stock options and other equity-based incentives. Manage equity pool and spend. Educate employees on equity programs and support them in understanding the long-term value.
  • Compensation Planning and Review Cycles: Manage various compensation planning processes, including the annual review cycle, mid-year review, pay equity analysis, and bonus payouts. Ensure a fair and transparent process that aligns with budgetary guidelines.
  • Compensation Surveys and Tools: Ensure the data and tooling used at Patreon are the most accurate, relevant, and up to date.
  • Data Analysis and Insights: Leverage data and analytics to provide insights on compensation trends, cost projections, and potential areas for improvement. Develop reports and dashboards to communicate compensation-related metrics to leadership.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborate closely with PBPs, Finance, Legal, and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure seamless execution of compensation programs. Provide guidance on compensation-related matters to enable effective decision-making.
  • Compliance and Governance: Stay up-to-date with relevant labor laws and regulations to ensure that Patreon’s compensation programs remain compliant. Maintain accurate documentation of compensation-related policies and practices.
  • Communication and Education: Develop communication strategies to educate employees about the company’s compensation philosophy, practices, and changes. Address employee inquiries related to compensation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Team Leadership: Develop, coach, and engage team member(s) to foster their growth and development.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in compensation, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Deep understanding of compensation theories, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with equity program management.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in data analysis and utilization of compensation survey data.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Extremely data driven, thorough, and meticulous.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compensation strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations related to compensation.
  • Proficiency in compensation-related software and tools.

The posted salary range is dependent on the location and the level. This range may encompass multiple levels within the role’s job family. The final offer will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, competencies, and geographic location, aligning with the appropriate job level within Patreon’s leveling framework. For remote employees located outside CA and NY, salary may vary based on location and local market conditions.
