Job summary

Aon plc is seeking a Senior Compensation Consultant to join our Employee Rewards advisory practice in Boston, supporting major clients across industries. The role focuses on market data, benchmarking, job architecture, and compensation design to help clients make informed workforce decisions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in compensation consulting, strong analytics, and excellent communication. You will manage complex projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to new business development

Qualifications

• 5+ years of compensation consulting and/or corporate compensation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is required; a master's degree or MBA is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage deliverables for medium to large projects or defined workstreams within larger engagements.
• Develop high-quality, client-ready deliverables that synthesize and interpret complex information.
• Support compensation design, job architecture, job evaluation, salary structure development, cost modeling, and impact analysis.
• Review and take accountability for methodology, analysis, and outputs across staffed projects.
• Serve as a liaison among engagement leaders, project teams, and clients to support communication and execution.
• Develop reports and presentations that clearly communicate findings, methodologies, implications, and recommendations.
• Interface with clients and participate in client presentations.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and developmental feedback to junior colleagues and peers.
• Support new business development and broader practice growth activities.

Aon's Rewards & Workforce Advisory team, part of the Human Capital Solutions practice, is seeking a Senior Compensation Consultant to join our Employee Rewards advisory practice.

This individual will bring deep knowledge of compensation data, job architecture, market benchmarking, and rewards consulting across technology, life sciences, financial services, manufacturing, energy, retail, and related industries.

What the day will look like

• Develop high-quality, client-ready deliverables that synthesize and interpret complex information beyond standard templates.
• Support and complete compensation design, job architecture, job evaluation, salary structure development, incentive target analysis, cost modeling, and impact analysis.
• Review and take accountability for methodology, analysis, and outputs across staffed projects
• Serve as a key liaison among engagement leaders, project teams, and clients to support effective communication and execution.
• Develop reports and presentations that clearly communicate findings, methodologies, implications, and recommendations.
• Interface with clients and participate in client presentations.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and developmental feedback to junior colleagues and peers.
• Support new business development and broader practice growth activities.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• 5+ years of compensation consulting and/or corporate compensation experience; compensation consulting experience is required for the Senior Compensation Consultant role.
• Strong consultative skills, including relationship building, process management, facilitation, and effective collaboration within teams.
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into accessible findings and practical business implications.
• Strong time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of rewards, including base pay, incentive plan design, job architecture, job evaluation, pay transparency, and/or pay equity.
• Ability to translate data into meaningful insights and clearly articulate the "so what," including identifying results that deviate from expectations or warrant further review.
• Ability to build complex Excel workbooks, develop insights that support project objectives, and lead projects across standard practice offerings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate proactively, clearly, and transparently with a variety of audiences.
• Candidates who do not meet the full experience requirements for the Senior Compensation Consultant role may be considered for Senior Associate or Consultant roles.

Education

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $135,000 - $165,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any[bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
