Qualifications

  • Ability to balance conceptual communications strategy with hands-on, on-site execution.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as day-to-day communications coordinator for the plant; editors for internal site publications and employee news.
  • Develops employee communications such as leadership messaging, meetings, and newsletters; partners with staff to craft messaging.
  • Supports and enforces graphic standards and brand guidelines for major plant initiatives.
  • Assists colleagues on communications campaigns including public relations and marketing.
  • Supports media interactions and external stakeholder communication; manages logistics for plant events.
  • Contributes to editorial standards; may revise work and support budgeting, purchasing, RFPs.
  • Provides communications support for speaker’s bureau and executives.
  • Leads outage communications and post-outage updates; internal and external messaging.
  • Facilitates site communications team; coordinates with leadership and fleet communications.
  • Assists with media coordination for local and national outlets; maintains media relationships.
  • Serves in emergency response communications; participates in drills and events.
  • Available for after-hours support for media calls, weekend events, crisis response.

Senior Communications Specialist

Job Summary

This is an onsite position located in Port Gibson, MS. Relocation assistance is provided. The official title will be Sr Communications Specialist.
We are seeking a hands‑on, plant‑focused Senior Communications Specialist to support internal and external communications at our facility. This is not a corporate communications role. The ideal candidate comes from a nuclear, industrial, manufacturing, or plant operations environment and is comfortable working both in an office and directly within the facility. This role requires someone who can roll up their sleeves, work closely with plant personnel, and produce clear, accurate communications related to plant operations, outages, employee engagement, emergency response, and external stakeholders. Strong writing ability and the capacity to create structured, high‑quality documents is essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implements a plant‑focused internal communications strategy that improves engagement and informs cross‑functional teams, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Acts as day‑to‑day communications coordinator for the plant; serves as editor for internal site publications and employee news.
  • Develops and executes employee communications such as leadership messaging, employee meetings, and newsletters; partners with Communications staff to craft messaging and materials.
  • Supports and enforces graphic standards and brand guidelines relating to major plant initiatives and projects.
  • Assists colleagues on communications campaigns including public relations and marketing.
  • Supports media interactions and external stakeholder communication; manages logistics for special plant events.
  • Contributes to editorial standards; may revise work of other staff and support project management tasks (budgeting, purchasing, RFPs).
  • Provides communications support for the employee speaker’s bureau and for executives in internal and external settings.
  • Leads outage communications and post‑outage updates, including internal messaging and external press releases/social media.
  • Facilitates a site communications team composed of volunteer employees across various disciplines; coordinates with site leadership and fleet communications.
  • Assists with media coordination for local and national outlets; develops outreach opportunities and maintains key media relationships.
  • Serves in the plant’s emergency response organization, ensuring effective communications during drills, exercises, and actual events.
  • Available for after‑hours support for media calls, weekend events, crisis response, and other urgent needs.
