Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Senior Communications Specialist to liaison with elected officials, businesses, and community groups on large projects. You will plan outreach, gather input, and promote project initiatives while coordinating with agency staff and contractors.

Responsibilities include developing public-facing materials, presenting to officials, and supporting management with communications tools and construction-related information. Fluency in multiple channels is valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in communications, including social media, events and community engagement.
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, political science or related field desirable.
• Proficiency in a second language such as Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level liaison work between external stakeholders, such as elected officials, businesses, and community groups regarding the project.
• Plan and implement publicity efforts, strategies, and outreach programs to define community needs, obtain input, gain support, and promote the Projects.
• Meet and confer with agency staff, external stakeholders, and project contractors to resolve conflicting opinions and reach mutually acceptable solutions.
• Research incidents, complaints, and concerns, interfacing with contractors and management to resolve issues.
• Prepare and make presentations to management, public officials, community groups, schools and other stakeholders.
• Provide input in creating useful communication tools and methods.
• Develop content for collateral material to educate the public on construction activities.
