Job summary

National University of Singapore is seeking an Assistant Manager/Manager in the Office of University Communications to advance the University’s communications for humanities and social sciences. The role focuses on developing newsworthy stories, building media opportunities and creating content that showcases education, research and broader initiatives.

The ideal candidate will translate academic ideas into engaging pieces, maintain strong media relationships and provide strategic communications

Qualifications

Degree in communications, journalism, marketing and branding or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in media relations, public relations, journalism or strategic communications.
Excellent command of written and spoken English with strong writing, editing and content development skills.

Responsibilities

Identify and develop newsworthy stories and publicity opportunities for the University’s humanities and social sciences faculties, schools and units, translating academic ideas into clear, compelling stories for media and wider audiences.
Bring creativity and strong news sense to identify fresh angles and drive publicity outcomes beyond routine outputs.
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, social media owners and internal stakeholders across the University.
Keep abreast of media developments and provide communications advice on publicity opportunities.
Contribute to other duties and publicity opportunities beyond the HSS portfolio to support UCO’s broader goals.
