Job summary

You will work with attorneys and leadership to craft client alerts, thought leadership, bios, and awards submissions, while mentoring writers and upholding brand standards.

A BA/BS and 10–15 years in communications or journalism, ideally in a law firm, with strong editing skills and the ability to manage priorities under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• BA or BS degree (English, journalism, or related field preferred).
• Ten to fifteen years of experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field. Law firm experience preferred.
• Demonstrated writing ability with clear, engaging prose, attention to tone, nuance, and audience.
• Strong editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills, with judgment to improve others' work while respecting their voice.
• Ability to manage, inspire, and develop a team.
• Comfort working directly with senior attorneys and firm leadership; collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of writers, setting editorial direction and maintaining high standards for accuracy, style, and substance across internal and external communications.
• Write and edit content across formats (client alerts, thought leadership, web content, presentations, remarks, bios, awards submissions).
• Ensure all materials are thoroughly proofread, fact-checked, and aligned with the firm's brand and editorial standards.
• Collaborate with attorneys, firm leadership, and BD to develop content and manage competing priorities with good judgment.
• Lead major communications projects from inception through publication, coordinating across stakeholders.
• Serve as a resource to the firm on writing and style questions.
