Job summary

Office of Congresswoman Suzan DelBene seeks an experienced Communications Director to lead and execute the Congresswoman’s communications strategy across all platforms. The role is based in the Washington, DC office and reports to the Chief of Staff.

A minimum of five years of communications experience is required. Responsibilities include designing the overall strategy, managing a team in DC and the district, and building relationships with national and state media.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Communications Director or similar role.
• Experience developing and executing a media plan.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly.
• Existing relationships with reporters and media outlets.
• Familiarity with franked/mass communication processes and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute the Member's overall communications strategy.
• Manage a communications team in Washington, DC and the district.
• Build and maintain relationships with national and Washington state press/media.
• Draft and edit speeches, talking points, press releases, op-eds, and public statements.
• Direct social media and mass communications/franking efforts.
• Coordinate press conferences, events, and rapid-response communications.
• Serve as a senior advisor on messaging and communications decisions.
• Frequent evening and weekend availability is expected.
