Job description

Location: Eufaula, AL or Alpharetta, GA.

Overview: This role plans, organizes and controls the sourcing of materials and services that embody major strategic commodities which are highly financially impactful. Implements global supply management strategies to achieve supplier partnerships, reduce supplier base, manage assets, improve quality, delivery, cycle time, and involve suppliers in new product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and administer complex procurement contracts designed to deliver cost savings and meet delivery goals.
  • Lead moderately to complex negotiations on strategic sourcing contracts, ensuring legally binding and auditable documentation.
  • Select, appoint, and steer a supply base that advances cost, cash, service level, and technology objectives.
  • Develop, evaluate and manage supplier relationships to achieve material cost, availability, and inventory goals; analyze and troubleshoot quality problems and influence suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain supplier quality through assessment, evaluation, and monitoring, including credit reviews, site audits, and performance metrics.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers and the company to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues, preventing supply interruptions and adverse costs.
  • Procure and evaluate new materials for each design phase; coordinate supplier info gathering, engineering samples, and qualification processes.
  • Support product development teams as a materials resource.
  • Design, develop and implement commodity procurement plans; manage transition of new and existing business to strategic suppliers.
  • Develop inventory targets, monitor processes, forecast fluctuations, and alert teams of needed adjustments.
  • Minimize obsolete, out‑of‑date, or scrap material efficiently and cost‑effectively.
  • Review, research, design, implement and monitor Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs.
  • Lead research of new products/processes technologies and influence design and material selection for lowest cost, highest quality, and on‑time delivery.
  • Monitor external influences on cost and performance, such as economics, logistics, and environmental factors.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction to buyers regarding business partners and suppliers.
  • Execute regulatory requirements, including country of origin certificates, international shipping, and Harmonized Tariff Codes.
  • Monitor market technology and trends, keeping the business aware of necessary industry movements.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of managing moderately complex procurement contracts, vendor negotiations, and sourcing of goods and services.
  • Travel: Some domestic and potentially international travel required.
  • Relocation: Included.

  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of mechanical/electrical devices and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP), JD Edwards (JDE), logistics, and contract writing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Project management expertise from concept to implementation and evaluation.
