- Coordinate commissioning activities for small to large-scale liquid pipeline and gas transmission projects.
- Perform hands-on commissioning, configuration, calibration, functional testing, start-up, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Wire, configure, and test PLCs, instrumentation, control panels, and communication systems.
- Provide technical input into commissioning procedures, checklists, engineering design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, construction contractors, operations personnel, and third-party commissioning specialists.
- Manage commissioning deficiencies, technical issues, and corrective actions to ensure equipment is safe and ready for operation.
- Oversee equipment handover from Construction to Commissioning and from Commissioning to Operations.
- Support outage planning and management for both greenfield and brownfield construction projects.
- Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements throughout commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety procedures, permitting requirements, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and electrical safety practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to commissioning coordinators, technicians, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining safe working conditions.

- Working knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes, such as API, NEC, CEC, CSA Z662, and NFPA 11.
- Proven ability to coordinate and lead field activities involving project teams, contractors, technicians, and operations personnel.
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices, including permits, LOTO, and electrical safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous commissioning experience in the oil and gas, liquid pipeline, or gas transmission industry.
- Hands-on experience with rotating and static equipment.
- Experience coordinating third-party commissioning contractors and internal field technicians.
- Familiarity with commissioning and start-up planning for greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Experience managing equipment deficiencies, project handovers, and operational readiness.
Work Environment and Travel:
- Combination of office-based work and frequent travel to construction and commissioning sites across the US pipeline system.
- 20–30 days of travel per quarter.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and respond to occasional after-hours calls, including evenings and weekends.
- Approximately 5–10 after-hours occurrences per quarter, depending on project requirements.
- Must be comfortable working in field environments and coordinating commissioning activities under tight deadlines.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a senior-level commissioning professional with 10+ years of hands-on field experience, preferably in oil and gas pipelines or gas transmission. Candidates with backgrounds in commissioning engineering, instrumentation and controls, electrical systems, field service, or pipeline operations may be a strong fit if they have practical commissioning and start-up experience.
