This Opportunity

WSP USA, an award‑winning and innovative multi‑disciplinary engineering consulting firm, seeks a Senior Commissioning Agent for our Denver/Boulder, CO office. WSP USA works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of building commissioning processes (new/re/retro/continuous), energy auditing and building retrofit applications, support for sustainability certification applications, and measurement and verification techniques. Our engineers work on high quality, high‑profile, national and international projects. The role will operate under the supervision, training, and guidance of the senior commissioning lead for the Houston office. Preliminary participation in business development activities will also be encouraged.

Your Impact
  • Execution of standard building commissioning processes for new and existing construction as found in ASHRAE Guidelines.
  • Perform engineering design reviews for commissioning related activities.
  • Performance of ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 Energy Audits.
  • Support for obtaining building sustainability certifications such as LEED, Energy Star, etc.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site during various construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer‑generated reports, and other matrices for project energy auditing actions, validation, and commissioning.
  • Perform professional building and system commissioning work by conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.
  • Assist with developing configuration, testing specifications, and readiness plans; preparing and updating checklists/punch lists and cost estimates that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub‑consultants, and clients.
  • Scopes of work to include a variety of building components including mechanical, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting and specialty systems including fire alarm, security, and other enhanced building technology/control systems including nurse call, renewable energy systems, etc.
  • Proficient communication and organization skills are necessary to conduct meetings, coordinate schedules, and prepare reports.
  • Possess a desire to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in the trade, and advance in a career in the commissioning industry.
  • Ability to travel part of time.
  • Prioritize effectively, have good follow‑through, and practice self‑implemented quality control measures.
  • Desire to attain Cx, controls and/or TAB certifications.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering or Construction‑related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience.
  • Knowledge of building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work‑related issues.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC and building systems to evaluate and test the performance of these systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Total facilities commissioning experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • LEED certification desired.

Compensation

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $93,700- $130,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
