Position
Senior Commissioning Agent
Location: San Jose, CA
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute commissioning services for large and complex projects across the region.
- Primarily HVAC related but will also include plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, nurse call and other systems.
- Attend meetings with design and construction teams to understand project goals and schedule and ensure commissioning activities are completed on time and aligned with the project schedule.
- Support in obtaining sustainability certifications such as B3, LEED, etc.
- Support business development, developing value-added opportunities.
- Review equipment submittals and shop drawings for compliance with the design intent, owner requirements, and function testing requirements.
- Perform pre-functional inspections and field observations of equipment and systems; assist in resolving problems that could inhibit timely startup.
- Write pre-functional and functional test procedures based on industry standards.
- Perform functional testing of building MEP systems with or without the assistance of installing contractors to verify equipment functions per design documents.
- Help the team diagnose and resolve equipment and/or system problems; coordinate retesting until issues are resolved.
- Attend regional industry conferences and stay current with emerging systems technology.
- Participate in owners’ operation and maintenance staff training; review operating modes, sequences of operations, and maintenance specifics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Robust project and client management experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for commercial buildings.
- Working knowledge of building systems, including:
- HVAC – Airside and Water Side
- Central Utility Plants
- Plumbing/Piping
- Electrical systems – Power and Lighting
- Fire protection
- Controls and instrumentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Commissioning and retro-commissioning experience
- Building envelope commissioning experience
- Experience working within a consulting engineering environment
- Strong client-facing experience

- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with testing equipment, data loggers, and commissioning tools
