Job summary

Mid-Continent Group in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to join our underwriting team. You will evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business, analyze risk data, and collaborate with agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information for informed decisions.

The role requires 5 years of related underwriting experience, with a focus on Commercial General Liability, Automobile, Excess/Umbrella, and Inland Marine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Risk Management or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of related Commercial General Liability, Automobile, Excess/Umbrella, and Inland Marine experience.
• Underwriting experience; energy underwriting preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business per guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk data to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients for information.
• Review reports (e.g., loss history, outside inspections) to inform decisions.
• Document underwriting decisions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assess existing policies for renewal or modification opportunities.
• Explain underwriting decisions clearly to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Develop and maintain relationships to generate new business and retain profits.
• Interpret and market products and services; perform related duties.
