Job summary

Seacoast Bank is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to support the growth of its commercial lending team through rigorous financial analysis, risk assessment, and structuring of credit facilities. You will assess borrowers, prepare analytical memos, and collaborate with Commercial Bankers to ensure loans meet policy and risk standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business from a four-year accredited institution (preferred).
• Minimum of ten years of relevant experience in commercial credit analysis, lending, underwriting, and portfolio management or equivalent.
• Ability to develop and sustain analytic and risk management skills during complex transactions.
• Ability to apply sound judgment in credit approval, loan structure, and management recommendations.
• Familiarity with various industries and commercial property types.
• Experience evaluating economic and market conditions in relevant markets.
• Experience analyzing collateral and collateral valuation.
• Knowledge of policies, procedures, and operations of commercial lending including originations, underwriting, documentation, and credit risk analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial information on existing and potential customers to assess borrower/guarantor financial condition and repayment ability; perform reviews and covenant tests.
• Prepare and present financial information, industry data, and market information in required formats; analyze cash flow and trends.
• Maintain understanding of credit culture and loan policy to inform risk appetite and policy adherence.
• Handle all loan types, including complex borrowers, with minimal direction and negotiate structure with Commercial Bankers on underwriting assignments.
• Ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate; support timely loan closing and funding activities.
• Manage loan portfolio to ensure conformity with terms and monitoring loan payments and covenant compliance.
