Job summary

6 Degrees Search seeks a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to guide underwriting on complex real estate transactions within title insurance. This role is hybrid in Tampa, FL, with remote options for qualified candidates.

Requires Florida bar and 5–7 years of experience in title underwriting or related real estate practice, plus strong knowledge of applicable regulations. Candidates will interpret underwriting standards, advise on settlement procedures, and collaborate with teams to deliver

Qualifications

• JD from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active Florida Bar admission, or state bar if remote.
• 5–7 years of substantive experience in title insurance underwriting or comparable real estate law firm work.
• Strong knowledge of commercial real estate law and applicable regulations.
• Ability to interpret and apply underwriting standards within delegated authority.
• Solid understanding of title insurance processes and closing procedures.
• Excellent relationship-building with internal stakeholders and clients.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and business acumen.
• Organizational skills with ability to multi-task high-volume transactions.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication; decisive when needed.
• Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset for title challenges.
• Hybrid work requirement: 3 days/week in Tampa area unless remote approval.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support and counsel on title commitments and policies.
• Interpret and apply underwriting standards within delegated authority.
• Advise colleagues on real estate settlement procedures and requirements.
• Support resolution of title issues and guide transaction strategy.
• Communicate underwriting decisions to internal teams and external partners.
• Ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
