Job summary

Marathon Petroleum seeks a Commercial Strategy Advisor to drive long-term strategies across feedstocks, refining, logistics and marketing in the South Fuels Value Chain. The role emphasizes asset optimization, capital decisions, and value creation for the enterprise.

You will translate strategic intent into rigorous analysis, brief senior leadership with clear tradeoffs, and collaborate across Business Development, Trading, Scheduling, Marketing and Logistics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years in Commercial/Strategy for Grade 13.
• 10+ years in Commercial/Strategy for Grade 14.

Responsibilities

• Identify and lead logistics cost reduction and strategic placement for MPC production.
• Manage intermediary to advanced commercial relationships with third-party logistic providers and renewals/contracts.
• Lead growth opportunities and potential M&A activity; develop strategy for assets group.
• Perform economic evaluation and financial modeling to identify value creation aligned with objectives.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to understand needs, constraints, and opportunities and propose solutions.
• Co-lead cross-functional projects from business case to execution handoff.
• Communicate opportunities and plans to executives; tailor detail level for audience.
• Demonstrate understanding of refining, marketing, and logistics operations and value contribution.
