Job summary

Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking an experienced litigation associate to handle complex business matters in Illinois state and federal courts. The role requires developing case strategy, managing all phases of discovery, and drafting pleadings, motions, and other court filings.

The attorney will conduct and defend depositions, prep witnesses, and appear at conferences and hearings, while mentoring junior lawyers and guiding case strategy.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have substantial experience handling complex business litigation matters.
• Strong understanding of Illinois state and federal court practices and procedures.
• Experience developing case strategy and managing all phases of discovery.
• Ability to draft sophisticated pleadings, dispositive motions and other filings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and defend depositions; prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Appear for status conferences and hearings; argue motions.
• Independently manage major aspects of litigation and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and team members.
• Provide strategic guidance throughout the litigation process and oversee junior attorneys.
• Lead and manage cases; take ownership of key litigation responsibilities; participate in settlement discussions.
