Job summary

Burns & Wilcox, a leader in wholesale insurance brokerage, is seeking an experienced underwriter to build and expand a book of business in Tampa. The role focuses on managing agency relationships, lead client contact, and executing strategic plans to grow new and renewal business.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience with a track record in sales and marketing, coupled with strong organizational skills and a commitment to professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience required, excess & surplus lines experience preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing.
• Proven organization skills with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and grow a book of business.
• Manage agency relationships and serve as lead client contact.
• Create and execute marketing plan to increase new and renewal business.
• Rate, quote and bind risks for large or complex renewals and new business.
• Develop and submit underwriting referrals to company facilities and Burns & Wilcox management.
• Monitor metrics to improve new business hit, renewal retention, and premium growth.
