Job summary

Kelso Industries is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman Technician to service large commercial and industrial facilities in Houston and surrounding markets. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain chillers and allied equipment, document work, and uphold safety standards; BAS/DDC controls experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Texas TDLR HVAC Journeyman License.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience with heavy chiller exposure.
• Experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting across low/high voltage.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled) including centrifugal, screw, and scroll.
• Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
• Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
• Adhere to safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.
