Job summary

Cardinal Health in the United States seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to be the primary legal partner to leaders within a division, providing counsel on legal issues and risk mitigation. This role includes drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with external parties on behalf of the business, protecting interests and ensuring contract compliance.

The Senior Legal Counsel liaises with Litigation, Privacy, Regulatory Counsel and Compliance to resolve issues while contributing to business

Qualifications

• Law degree with high academic achievement in undergrad and law school.
• License to practice law.
• Commercial/transactional experience required; healthcare law preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication; attention to detail.
• Interpersonal skills, diplomacy and ability to interface with many levels.
• Self-starter with urgency; able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong business acumen and ability to diagnose corporate legal problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive and pragmatic legal advice to contracting business clients across the enterprise.
• Demonstrate strong business acumen and ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
• Handle fast paced and high-volume workload.
• Identify legal and compliance issues and elevate appropriately.
• Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Collaborate with Litigation, Privacy, Regulatory Counsel, and Compliance.
• Improve processes and contract templates as laws and strategies change.
• Work under supervision of senior attorneys and use sound judgment.
• Counsel division leaders on legal risks and risk‑mitigation strategies.
