Job summary

Controlled Combustion is a leading NYC heating contractor seeking a Senior Commercial Heating Technician to diagnose and repair commercial gas and oil burners in boiler rooms across the New York metropolitan area.

The role requires hands-on experience with boilers, burners, and controls, independent work, clear communication with customers and supervisors, and accurate service documentation. We offer a structured on‑call schedule with premium pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on commercial gas/oil burner service preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Local Union 638-B experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial gas and oil burners.
• Fire and adjust burners for safe and efficient operation.
• Diagnose combustion failures, open limits, electrical issues, control problems, and related burner/boiler issues.
• Service and maintain atmospheric boilers, condensing boilers, Scotch marine fire tube boilers, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, safeties, operating controls, and related components.
• Use meters, combustion analyzers, and tools in the field.
• Complete service reports and follow‑up notes accurately and on time.
• Represent the company professionally at customer locations.
• Participate in rotating on‑call schedule, overtime, weekend work, and emergency service.
