Job summary

GCS Recruitment seeks a seasoned CODESYS developer to design and implement control software for Linux-based industrial PCs. You will build modular abstractions for motors, drives, sensors, and I/O, and create reusable components for conveyors and sortation systems.

The role includes lab-based integration in Bellevue, WA, maturing software from prototype to production, and producing runbooks and handoff materials for deployment teams. Hybrid work with travel is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on CODESYS development experience.
• Proficient in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and Function Block programming.
• Experience with modular, layered PLC/controls architectures.
• Background in industrial automation (material handling, conveyance, sortation, manufacturing).
• Hands-on integration of motors, drives, sensors, actuators, and I/O.
• Fieldbus experience: EtherCAT (primary), EtherNet/IP, Profinet.
• Familiarity with Linux-based industrial PCs.
• Software development discipline: Git, version control, code reviews, structured testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop CODESYS-based control logic on Linux industrial PCs.
• Build standardized device abstraction layers for motors, drives, sensors, actuators, and I/O.
• Assemble reusable control components for conveyors, merges, diverts, and sortation systems.
• Perform lab-based hardware integration and controls validation in Bellevue, WA.
• Mature software from prototype to production release.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and handoff materials.
• Provide engineering support for first 1–2 deployments, then transition to deployment teams.
