Job summary

Brevard County is seeking a Code Enforcement Investigator to perform skilled inspections and enforcement across building codes, zoning, and related regulations. The role involves investigating unlicensed activity, contractor classifications, and health and safety compliance in a government setting.

The position requires extensive experience in investigations, FACE certification, a valid FL driver license, and completion of Brevard County leadership and development programs.

Qualifications

• Two years of college-level credit with major coursework in related fields plus eight years of investigations experience or equivalent.
• Or ten years in local government licensing/in enforcement roles.
• Must have FACE Fundamentals of Code Enforcement certification and two FACE certifications within 18 months.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, investigate, and enforce codes, ordinances, and regulations.
• Address unlicensed construction activity, misclassified contractors, permitting and zoning issues.
• Interpret and explain rules and regulations; maintain case documentation.
• Meet performance metrics: inspection timelines and compliance status.
