Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a senior Coatings Inspector III to lead coatings inspection across projects. You will review specifications, write inspection plans, and oversee level 1 and 2 inspectors, ensuring quality and adherence to SSPC/NACE/AMPP standards.

Expect travel as required and coordination with owners, engineers, and applicators. The role requires CIP Level 3 certification, strong failure investigation experience, and broad coatings knowledge across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of coatings inspection experience including supervision.
• Coating failure investigation experience.
• AMPP Protective Coatings Specialist (PCS) preferred.
• Broad experience across industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings.

Responsibilities

• Review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
• Investigate coating failures: field evaluation, sampling, laboratory coordination, and written findings.
• Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
• Supervise and develop Level 1 and 2 inspectors; calibrate acceptance standards.
• Advise owners and engineers on coating system selection, service life, and maintenance planning.
