Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a senior Coatings Inspector III to set the standard for protective coatings across projects. You will review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements, and guide owners and engineers on system selection and maintenance planning.

You will lead field investigations of failures, coordinate lab work, and audit applicators, while supervising Level 1 and 2 inspectors and developing their skills.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 3 certification required and current.
• 8+ years of coatings inspection experience including supervision.
• Coating failure investigation experience.
• PCS credential preferred.
• Broad experience across industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings.
• Ability to write specifications and findings that withstand scrutiny by owners, applicators, and manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
• Investigate coating failures through field evaluation, sampling, lab coordination, and written findings.
• Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
• Supervise and develop Level 1 and 2 inspectors across projects; calibrate acceptance standards.
• Advise owners and engineers on coating system selection, service life, and maintenance planning.
