Job summary

Thomas Brooke International seeks a senior coatings formulation leader to serve as the company’s primary technical authority. You will troubleshoot formulations, own the technical relationship with fabricators, and mentor the lab team to ensure excellence on batch quality and problem solving.

You will drive product approvals, pursue MPI/SSPC certifications, and lead new formulation development to expand the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with hands-on formulation depth.
• 10–15 years in industrial coatings formulation, waterborne preferred.
• Proven generalist technical leadership across formulation, QC, and customer problem‑solving.
• Experience with MPI/SSPC or similar third‑party approvals.
• Oil and gas infrastructure coatings exposure is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the company’s primary technical authority: troubleshooting formulations, resolving out‑of‑spec batches, and being the first call in lab, production, or customer sites.
• Own the customer-facing technical relationship with fabricators and applicators; uphold technical credibility in the marketplace.
• Manage and mentor the lab team, fostering knowledge sharing across batch makers, QC staff, and others.
• Drive product approvals by pursuing third‑party certifications (MPI, SSPC, etc.).
• Lead targeted new formulation development to fill product gaps and explore adjacent markets.
• Maintain and improve lab documentation, QC processes, and batch records with structure and efficiency.
