Job summary

Thomas Brooke International in the Quad Cities area seeks a Senior Coatings Chemist to join a long‑standing specialty coatings manufacturer. You will learn and eventually lead the technical function as the current Technical Director transitions to retirement over ~3 years.

This role covers epoxy bake systems and coatings for aerospace and defense, driving reformulation projects with hands-on ownership in a small, stable company. A strong work ethic and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years formulating high-performance coatings; aerospace/defense exposure preferred.
• BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or related field required.
• Hands-on, problem-solving approach with PPAP/qualification experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Drive hands-on formulation work across epoxy bake systems and manage multiple concurrent projects.
• Own raw material strategy, sourcing and PFAS/heavy metal alternatives while attending conferences.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, providing guidance and troubleshooting.
• Lead lab technicians and partner with production on scale-up trials and documentation.
