Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks a Coastal Engineer to join its Ports and Coastal Resilience Practice, with a preferred base in Melbourne, Florida and options in Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, or Tallahassee. You will lead design and oversight of dredging, beach nourishment and coastal restoration efforts across project lifecycles.

The role requires 4–8 years of experience, Florida licensure or ability to obtain it, and strong skills in calculations, drawings, and bid documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Florida Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain licensure after hire.
• 4–8 years of relevant engineering experience, including dredging or coastal projects.
• Experience preparing technical specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and bid documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support design of dredging, beach nourishment, waterway restoration, and other coastal projects.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical specs, drawings, cost estimates, and construction documents.
• Coordinate surveys, geotechnical investigations, environmental studies, and other data-collection efforts.
• Perform engineering analyses and evaluate design alternatives.
• Support permitting, bidding, construction administration, and oversight activities.
• Monitor compliance with project specs, permit conditions, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist with managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and field staff.
• Participate in project-site visits and fieldwork.
