Job summary

EIT Electronic Instrumentation & Technology in Danville, VA is seeking an experienced Precision Sheet Metal Fabricator/Programmer to join our manufacturing team. You will set up, program, and operate CNC sheet metal equipment to produce high-precision parts to print.

You will read engineering drawings, GD&T, select tooling, verify first-piece dimensions, inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, and collaborate with engineering to improve processes while maintaining quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in precision sheet metal fabrication.
• CNC programming and machine setup experience.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Experience with press brakes and CNC punching equipment.
• Knowledge of sheet metal materials, tooling, bend allowances, and forming processes.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC sheet metal equipment.
• Program and operate CNC punch presses, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and job specifications.
• Select appropriate tooling and determine bend sequences, setups, and forming methods.
• Set up machines and verify first-piece dimensions.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machine issues.
• Make program and setup adjustments to maintain part quality.
• Work with engineering and manufacturing to improve processes and reduce setup and production time.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow established quality procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Help develop efficient processes for both prototype and production work.
