Job summary

Westport Axle Co., a subsidiary of Universal Logistics Holdings, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join its manufacturing team. The role focuses on programming, setup, and process optimization for multi-axis CNC mills and lathes producing high-precision components for the heavy truck industry.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of CNC machining and programming experience, strong G & M code skills, and familiarity with Mazak, Makino, and Fanuc controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CNC machining and programming experience.
• Strong G & M code programming experience.
• Macro-variable programming experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Mazak, Makino, and Fanuc-controlled machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, 3D models, and GD&T.
• Experience with inspection and gauging methods.
• Process development experience in a production environment.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety.
• Prior experience mentoring or leading machinists is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and support multi-axis CNC mills and lathes.
• Develop and improve machining processes to support production goals.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues.
• Train and mentor setup personnel and machine operators.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
