Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years experience as a machinist.
• Welding industry experience a plus; welding knowledge preferred.
• 1-2 years mechanical assembly experience a plus.
• Basic reading skills and ability to follow directions.
• Basic computer navigation skills.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Know how to solve problems and generate new ideas.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece and setup requirements.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material for machining.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, tools, and materials on machines as needed.
• Set controls to regulate speed, feed, coolant, and depth of cut; input or edit CNC data per guidelines.
• Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust as required.
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using inspection tools.
• Set up and operate machine on trial runs to verify accuracy; perform routine maintenance on machines.
• Cross-train employees to provide flexibility; assist with safety and housekeeping.
