Job summary

Laborup in Arab, Alabama, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for aerospace/defense work in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will independently set up jobs, prove out programs, and troubleshoot in a shop with Mazak, Haas, and multi-axis equipment.

Expect challenges from one-off parts to small runs, frequent setup changes, and direct accountability for production quality. Strong tooling knowledge and GD&T skills are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience preferred.
• Ability to independently perform complete CNC setups.
• Experience proving out programs and running new jobs.
• Strong tooling, workholding, speeds/feeds, and machining processes.
• Capable of offsets and CNC program adjustments.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete machine setups, tooling, workholding, offsets, and touch-offs.
• Set up and run short-run, one-off and low-volume jobs.
• Prove out new CNC programs and monitor first-piece production.
• Make offset changes and G-code edits as needed.
• Troubleshoot tooling, programming, setup, and machining issues.
• Collaborate with programming for larger program changes.
• Read complex drawings with tolerances and GD&T.
• Inspect parts with precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy on aerospace/defense components.
