Job summary

Dover Precision Components in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior CNC Machinist to set up, adjust and operate lapping and grinding machines and other tooling. You will perform machine set-ups to meet tight tolerances, inspect first pieces, and document job records with accuracy.

5+ years of experience and ability to read blueprints are required. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to train junior machinists.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be able to measure parts using micrometers, calipers or other measuring tools.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
• Minimum 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Works from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
• Performs machine set-ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
• Obtains required inspections on first pieces of a run and inspects work-in-progress using measuring devices.
• Maintains records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisition forms for each job.
• Makes jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
• Acquires raw material, supplies, tools, etc. when necessary.
• Maintains clean, safe work area and conforms to quality procedures and standards.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
• Troubleshoots drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc.
• Uses Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print.
• Provides guidance and training to lower-level machinist
