Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for AWS CloudWatch in Bellevue, WA. The role focuses on building scalable distributed tracing and monitoring capabilities, instrumenting customer applications, and delivering insights across large-scale systems.

You will lead design discussions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multiple AWS teams to deliver high-value monitoring solutions. This position requires strong software craftsmanship and a passion for scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Building a solution based on Open Telemetry of automatically instrumenting customer applications, collecting comprehensive telemetry data, and publishing them into AWS managed monitoring services.
• Partnering with multiple teams within AWS to build solutions that add value to internal engineers and their customers.
• Providing technical leadership to the engineering team and contributing to the product development lifecycle.
