Job summary

Verista in Cambridge, MA is seeking a hands-on Systems Admin to oversee the secure, reliable operation of cloud-hosted research applications, agentic AI systems, and scientific SaaS platforms. This role partners with scientists, developers, IT, cybersecurity, and data teams to keep pipelines and production services running smoothly.

The role covers Google Cloud Platform, AWS, containers, AI models, MCP servers, APIs, and third‑party services, with on-site work required three days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience administering production systems in GCP, AWS, Azure, or a comparable cloud environment.
• 5+ years of experience with Linux, containers, Docker, Python environments, APIs, networking, DNS, TLS, identity, secrets management, and serverless or container orchestration services such as Cloud Run or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of IAM, SSO, OAuth, service accounts, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, incident management, backup, recovery, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow for ITSM and Jira for work intake and issue tracking.

Responsibilities

• Administer research applications and infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and scientific SaaS environments, including cloud projects, IAM, networking, storage, quotas, and compute services, while maintaining separation among dev/test/production.
• Operate Cloud Run services, containers, registries, domains, DNS, TLS certificates, load balancing, and Identity‑Aware Proxy for secure connectivity.
• Administer SaaS tenant settings, access, integrations, APIs, audit controls, and licenses; monitor vendor releases and end‑of‑life notices.
• Maintain inventories of agents, MCP servers, tools, data sources, integrations, credentials, and system owners; support agentic AI frameworks and orchestration libraries.
• Manage access using RBAC; rotate credentials and store secrets securely; avoid hard‑coded credentials.
• Maintain container images, Dockerfiles, registries, dependencies; ensure rollback procedures and deployment traceability.
• Keep logs, metrics, traces, alerts, dashboards, and health checks for availability, performance, and cost.
• Create runbooks and support incident triage, RCAs, backups, DR, tracking in ServiceNow and Jira.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code; promote secure, production‑ready deployments.
• Apply enterprise security standards; support architecture reviews, threat modeling, audits, and vendor collaboration.
