Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect to act as the senior client-facing technology leader for cloud initiatives. You will drive discovery, requirements, and deployment planning for complex cloud and application projects, guiding teams from concept to operation while aligning with enterprise standards.

You will mentor engineers, lead cross-functional efforts, and advocate for cost-effective, scalable, and secure cloud solutions across multiple clients and industries.

Qualifications

• Experience in solution architecture, consulting or customer-facing technology roles delivering enterprise technology solutions.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives from discovery to implementation with measurable business outcomes.
• Strong ability to engage leaders to translate objectives into practical technology solutions and implement-ready designs.
• Advanced understanding of Azure cloud services, architecture, and security concepts.
• Working knowledge of AWS and cloud architecture principles.
• Proficiency in enterprise networking concepts, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and hybrid networking.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical advisor and trusted partner for business stakeholders; identify opportunities to leverage technology for business objectives.
• Lead client engagement activities: discovery, requirements gathering, stakeholder workshops, and business case development.
• Translate business needs into scalable, supportable technology solutions aligned with goals.
• Support full solution lifecycle including implementation, transition and upgrades.
• Develop solution strategies, roadmaps, and delivery plans for cloud, apps, and tech initiatives.
• Lead complex engagements from concept through deployment and transition.
• Collaborate with leaders, vendors, and delivery teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Provide technical leadership to Solution Architects, Engineers, and delivery teams.
• Evaluate options and recommend cost-effective solutions with long-term supportability.
• Identify risks and mitigation strategies; manage dependencies and challenges.
• Lead vendor evaluations, PoCs, and technology assessments for solution delivery.
• Work with CCOE to ensure platform services and standards are used.
