Job summary

Backcountry is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to protect and harden multi-cloud platforms, Kubernetes workloads, and CI/CD pipelines across AWS, GCP, and Microsoft Defender XDR. You will drive security baselines, DevSecOps practices, and incident response while guiding AI tooling governance.

Based in Costa Rica with hybrid work, you will own security posture, IAM controls, and secure software delivery, collaborating with engineering teams to move fast yet securely.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SecDevOps or cybersecurity.
• Hands-on AWS/GCP security configurations.
• Kubernetes security experience across workloads.
• Experience with AI tooling security in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Protect and monitor AWS/GCP infra; review IaC security.
• Secure containerized workloads in EKS/GKE; enforce Istio policies.
• Integrate security into CI/CD with GitHub Actions; manage dependencies.
• Administer Azure Entra ID and enforce least-privilege access.
• Lead incident response and monitor Defender XDR across platforms.
• Secure Microsoft 365 environment; implement DLP and email security controls.
• Define baselines for Linux/Windows VMs; patching and remediation.
• Govern AI tool usage (Claude/OpenAI) and data handling controls.
