Job summary

Comcast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Cloud Security Engineering team to design, build, and operate reliable software platforms. You will own major technical areas end-to-end, architect scalable solutions, and lead implementation across services, data flows, and automation.

This role emphasizes production systems ownership, modern Python development, and collaboration across teams in a cybersecurity space, with opportunities to apply AI where it adds value.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python 3.10+ and clean software design.
• Experience building backend APIs with FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Strong database experience with PostgreSQL and ORM patterns.
• Experience building data ingestion and processing systems.
• Experience designing reliable multi-step workflows with retries and observability.
• Knowledge of concurrency, async processing, and distributed execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop self-service capabilities and repeatable processes.
• Lead end-to-end design of large-scale distributed systems.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable, secure architectures.
• Define service boundaries, APIs, data models, and deployment strategies.
• Evaluate tradeoffs across performance, scalability, security, cost, and maintainability.
• Incorporate observability, fault tolerance, and operational readiness into designs.
• Produce architecture diagrams and technical design documents for teams.
• Provide technical leadership throughout implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Write production-quality code delivering secure, maintainable services.
• Lead technical problem solving across the development lifecycle.
• Mentor teammates and raise engineering standards.
• Research and prototype AI approaches and agent frameworks.
• Document decisions with runbooks and proposals for diverse audiences.
